Wednesday, September 3, 2003
WHERE: 2A-2328 Government St. (Vancouver Island Brewery Building)
TIME: 7:00 PM
TOPIC: See Macromedia's MX 2004 products live & get a chance to win Studio MX 2004!
Blurb:
I am thrilled to announce that by joining us at the September 3 worldwide user group event,
you will be the first users to see the new Macromedia MX 2004 products. You will see
demonstrations of Dreamweaver MX 2004, Flash MX 2004, Fireworks MX 2004, Studio MX 2004 and
the all-new Flash Professional MX 2004.
We will also be raffling off a copy of Studio MX 2004 to those attending the event, so make
sure to join us! The event will be broadcast over Macromedia's Breeze Live so you'll also
experience Macromedia's newest collaboration tool.
In the words of Macromedia's president of products, Norm Meyrowitz: "The MX 2004 products
are evolutionary in their approach, as you will see when you dig deeper into each one.
We built MX 2004 for you. Over the last 18 months, you told us what you liked about MX
and how to make it better. Whereas the initial MX products blazed a new, uncharted trail,
the MX 2004 versions make the path cleaner, wider, and easier to traverse. We are raising
the bar even higher knowing that our customers will, once again, take the lead and go in
amazing new directions. We can't wait to see what you're going to do with this!"
Macromedia presenters will be:
Jennifer Taylor, Dreamweaver MX 2004 Product Manager
Matt Lerner, Fireworks MX 2004 Product Manager
Lucian Beebe; Flash Professional MX 2004 Product Manager
Eliza Laffin, Studio MX 2004, Product Manager
We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!

Many thanks to Andrew Cripps for coming and giving us the low-down on Flash MX and

March 21, 2002 - Thursday
WHERE: Christie's Carriage House Pub - 1739 Fort St, Victoria, BC V8R1J3 (click here for map)
TIME: 6PM
TOPIC: General CF Chat
Blurb:
Well last night was pretty casual, but we saw a few new faces and everybody got some Macromedia swag
to take home (calendars, tag posters, and notepad/pen holders).
The door prize of a Macromedia shirt, HomeSite 4.0, and CF Server 4.0 Enterprise went to Ken
Next month's door prize will be CF Server Enterprise 4.5 and CF Studio 4.5 (and some other tid
bits).
Make sure you're available for next month's meeting. We'll have Andrew Cripps (pretty sure he's the
team lead on this one) from Macromedia up here to give us a presentation on Flash MX and CF
integration. As I mentioned to those that attended last night, I'm beta testing Flash MX with CF
and it is amazing!!

February 21, 2002 - Thursday
WHERE: Cyberstation 1113 Blanshard Street, Victoria, BC (http://www.cyber.bc.ca/map.htm for map)
TIME: 6PM
TOPIC: CF 6 (Neo) - So what's the big deal?
Blurb:
Well we had a bigger turnout this month. I guess the mailout from Macromedia certainly helped
to get the word out. We managed to cover some of the basics of what's coming up in CF 6, and
discovered that some of the group hasn't had a chance to play with CF 5 yet. It sounded like
the group liked the time we spent for the last half of the meeting just having a roundtable
CF chat, so I think we'll do that for the next meeting. The April meeting now has a confirmed
speaker from Macromedia who will be speaking about CF and Flash integration! Don't miss that one ;-)

January 24, 2002 - Our First Meeting!
Well it's been a long time coming, but we're finally doing it.
WHERE: George & Dragon Pub (backroom) 1302 Gladstone Avenue, Victoria, BC
TIME: 6PM
TOPIC: Meet and greet to fnd out where everyone's at and what they want to discuss
Blurb:
We met, we talked CF and drank some beer ;-)
Our first meeting was a little scattered, but we did manage to cover a few CF topics. The most
prominent topic seemed to be about the upcoming CF 6 (Neo) and what it holds for us CFers. That
being the case it has been suggested that Neo be the topic of the next meeting.
In the meantine I will try and get "official" CFUG status with Macromedia and track down a
meeting room more suited to our needs (although the beer and nachos were good).
